Ha. That was strange. People really were desperate to hook up with someone for this stupid holiday. Shinon sneered at nothing in particular as he began to exit the student dormitory, throwing open the heavy doors that exposed him to the chill of the outside world. Damn, did he need that.

A prick. Did he just feel the smallest impact as though an unknown archer shot him with an arrow the size of a toothpick? He rubbed his shoulder. "Tch. Okay."

*Unfortunately for Misty, Shinon just so happened to be nearby as she began to walk down the chilly path to the dorm complex. She was usually short-tempered, and while she wasn't hateful in the slightest towards Valentine's Day and adored love, she believed in true romance, not spur of the moment things.

Thus, this would make this encounter all too interesting.*

[Shinon, too, was a believer in developing love. How foolish he thought the concept was, love at first sight.

Wait a minute. For the most part, Shinon didn't believe in love. That's another problem.

Well, he can keep that frame of mind all he wants, but when he saw Misty, he was dumbfounded. He'd never really spoken with her before, and he couldn't even remember her name, but she was... downright beautiful. Everything about her seemed so ideal and perfect that Shinon was sure he was about to explode.

Was he blushing? Surely, this couldn't be. He'd seen people that looked like her before and they were just women, nothing special. Actually, she kind of looked like Mist, Ike's sister! ...Ugh! That was repulsive. Still, when he thought about Mist, he didn't feel any differently about her: she looked like... Mist. A young girl with more potential than Ike.

Wait, how old was Mist again? Wasn't she like, Rolf's age? Then again, how the hell old was Rolf? Shinon checked and double checked his morality. How old was this girl?

He stopped himself. What was he thinking? Again, he didn't even know her. That... could be changed. Maybe he'd... try to talk to her? That seemed so off of him, but hey, it wasn't a bad start. Of course he'd talk to her. At least learn her name and maybe her age.

The mercenary continued his casual stroll. Once close enough, he decided to pounce.] "Hey."

*Misty blinked, turning around to the direction of the voice. This man was unfamiliar to her, but with him being on campus, well... he had to be a student or faculty, right? He looked like he could be a teenager, so it could be either one.

Either way, she still smiled in a friendly manner and greeted him.* Oh, hey! Are you from the school?

"Yeah. I am." [He caught up with her, keeping his pace equal to her own.] "Archery teacher. You?"

I'm the Pokemon Studies teacher! *She looks over at him curiously.* My name's Misty, gym leader from Cerulean City. Who are you?

[Well would you look at that. Her name's Misty. What a coincidence.] "Shinon. Tell me, what's a gym leader supposed to be?" [There was added emphasis on gym leader, as though he had never spoken the words before.]

Shinon? Nice name! *Then he asked about what a gym leader was. Oh boy oh boy.* A gym leader? A gym leader is a person who runs a Pokemon gym! They fight other Pokemon trainers to see if they can earn badges for the Pokemon League.

[Normally, Shinon couldn't care less about Pokeemonz or whatever they were, but today, he was suddenly interested. This was so weird of him.] "So that's how they work, eh?" [He clicked his tongue.] "Honestly, I know nothing about Pokemon."

Well, they're pretty basic, sort of! *she grins, completely unaware that this is very unlike Shinon and that he might be completely different tomorrow* They're elemental creatures that use a kind of magic to fight. I specialize in training water-types!

[Yeah, Shinon's a pretty smooth guy. He's always been under the impression that women like to talk about themselves and their interests. This is the guiding rule for him and hitting on women.] "I guess I get it. So you use water types? Fitting." [He cracked a smile.]

*Misty was totally swayed by this, though more on the side of being friendly than being romantic. She laughed softly.* Really? Well, I am a very big fan of swimming and the water at all! I even love the snow just as much!

*She glanced about for a few seconds at the white, fluffy wonderland, and then thought of something.* Do you want to see one of my Pokemon?

Sure. Why the hell not. Could be interesting. [A playful note was thrown into his tone.]

Alright! *she pauses, wondering which one to send out, but decides on her staple Pokemon* Starmie, I choose you!

*Poof! Out comes an 8-pointed-star type starfish Pokemon. It lets out a bubbly noise and tilts its star points back and forth as if greeting Shinon.*

[Oh Goddess Ashera he's never seen a thing like that before. Naturally, a dude like him feels fear, but he quells it easily.] That's a pretty weird lookin' thing. [He realizes that she may be offended by that remark and Shinon is trying not to be mean but it's just his nature!] Never seen one of those before in my life. What's it called, now?

It's not that weird. *Misty gives him a look as if she were bothered by that comment, and then continues on.* It's a Starmie! It's a water and psychic type Pokemon.

*Starmie's star points also drooped a little at being called 'weird'.*

[He shrugged.] Like I said, never seen one before. So... is it like a pet or something? [Shinon's attention was much more directed towards Misty, but it wasn't like he wasn't bothering with the Starmie. After all, with the way he was feeling, he wasn't trying to pick up a one-night deal or anything. He just wouldn't admit it to himself.]

*It made a little more sense to her, so her smile began to return. Maybe it did seem a bit strange to people who never even thought Pokemon would exist.* It's kind of like a pet, but more like a best friend and partner! They can also fight other Pokemon in friendly spars and train with their trainers. Starmie and I have been through a lot like that!

Huh. Never would'a thought. [He stared at the creature for a few more moments before turning back to Misty. He hated calling her beautiful in his head, but he wasn't denying it for once.]

You seem like a pretty interesting person, you know? Hell, I haven't met anyone like yourself for a long time.

Really? I am? *Misty smiles, thankful for the compliment.* Oh, thank you! You seem pretty nice to me, too.

Maybe we can get to know each other more!

[Juuust what he was hoping for.] Sure. Why not. We could go out sometime, if you'd like.

[Lucky him! That's just what he wanted, but he would've never admitted it.] A sound plan. I've got nothing to do. Sure.
